International Day of Peace

PRESS RELEASE                                                                    Monday, September 20, 2010

Tuesday, September 21 has been dedicated by the United Nations as International Day of Peace.

After worship on Sunday morning, members of the Church of Our Saviour, 6655 Middlebelt Rd, West Bloomfield, placed twenty-four symbols of the Abrahamic faiths (Islam, Judaism and Christianity) on the front lawn of the church.  The Crescent Moon, the Star of David, and the Cross are to remind people of all faiths to pray for and work for peace, to be in conversation and cooperation.  The symbols also resemble gravestones or markers, each representing thousands of children, women and men who lost their lives in conflict.  The symbols will remain on display through Sunday October 3, World Communion Sunday, a day the Presbyterian Church (USA) receives the Peacemaking Offering.

Contact the Rev. Jim Faile, Pastor at 248.626.7606 or pastor@coos.comcastbiz.net for more information.
