About Us
In December of 1956, a group of people met for worship in Eagle School at 14 Mile and Middlebelt Roads. The congregation was officially chartered in 1958. There have been four permanent pastors: Ralph Stribe, 1957-1973; William Saum, 1974-1988; Murray Blackadar, 1989-1999; and G. Patrick Thompson, 2000-2005. Our current pastor, The Rev. Jim Faile, was called in December 2006.

Those who planned our church building chose to have a sanctuary that was multi-purpose. Therefore, no pews or dividing walls were included. The area could be used for fellowship, preschool, concerts or any other need. It took three committees to come up with the symbol at the front of our sanctuary: the maze-cross.

This maze on our chancel wall, symbolizes the journeys were experience, our joys, frustrations, the boxes we get into and our victories, as well. As an integral part of the maze, the cross symbolizes the source of our spiritual nourishment weaving inseparably within our lives.

The church is people. Each face contains many stories. Others are stories waiting to be told. Then there are the stories we have yet to create. This church is a reminder of our existence as a warm and caring part of the Body of Christ. These faces are not always beaming. But these faces do speak of the many gifts of our lives we have to share with one another.

Church of Our Saviour means loving, caring, supportive, accepting people. It is home even when we are not there in person. We have built lifelong relationships and memories at. It is a real community that is beyond geography.

Church of Our Saviour was organized as a Presbyterian congregation in 1958 to celebrate God through worship, caring, outreach and church school programs. The membership of the church is drawn equally from the West Bloomfield/Farmington Hills communities and many other communities in Oakland County.
